Mellow Yellows: Seattle and southward

It was nice to see "Debbie's Travels" on Mellow Yellow Monday. Debbie is a blogging friend we met in Brussels, Belgium, on our way to Paris in April of this year. She and her fiancé (now husband) met us for dinner and we had such a good time we forgot to get photos.
Her first submission to MYM was today, with photos of a Christmas they spent in Paris. Mine are not as exotic, but have plenty of yellow, starting with mystery metal yellow things outside a building overlooking the Amtrak station in Seattle, Washington. They might be pieces of fencing. They might be bicycle racks. The station is nicely reflected in the windows, and nice yellow light shines out.

When I turned around from taking this photo, I couldn't help but notice the name change on the football field. I remember it as Qwest Field but it is now Century Link Field. And, of course, there were yellow taxis outside the train station. There were still yellow trees in the stadium grounds, too, although it was the last day of November this year.

Finally, from the train taking me to Oregon to meet my longtime friend Maryann for a visit at her lovely house on the wonderful Oregon coast, I saw the liquid gold of a very mellow, very yellow sunset. Lots of mellow yellows from an unexpected part of my trip! I always told my husband I'd never take from-the-train photos, and who thought I'd find any while waiting for a train?

Mellow Yellow Monday: Scottsdale, Arizona

Yes, I'm away again, but I'm not in Arizona. These photos are from a trip with Dick's employers and colleagues a few years ago.
Right now, Dick and our dog Lindy are home and I'm in White Rock, BC, visiting friends and family. I went into Vancouver today to have lunch with three old friends, and met a new friend, another blogger: Penny (Joyful), whose photo blog is called "Snap That". We had a wonderful visit, which lasted much longer than either of us expected, a sure sign new friends have plenty in common.

While I explored the port of Cadiz with friends, my intrepid photographer joined a tour to Seville, Spain, where he saw — yes, oranges — and many mellow yellows, long before I even had my blog.

Mellow Yellows, Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery

These yellows have been mellowing for centuries.

I stayed on board the Viking Surkov on our August cruise while my husband toured this monastery in Russia. All tours were graded according to the amount of walking and climbing required, but I managed to see plenty of other things. After Dick went alone, he showed me his photos so I'd know what he'd seen.

Mellow yellows, many murals make up Moose Jaw

Moose Jaw is known to TV cartoon fans as the town where super-hero Atomic Betty attended school
at Moose Jaw Heights...when she wasn't somewhere in space, protecting the galaxy.
However, the city is also known for its murals. There are so many murals, I could only show a few last year, the first time I featured them on Mellow Yellow Monday.
Now, because yellow is such a bright spring-and-summer kind of color, here are a few more, to brighten up a snowy winter. I know Moose Jaw is having a snowy winter, because it's just a few hours from here, in Saskatchewan, the Canadian province east of Alberta. At least Moose Javians (yes, that's what its citizens are called) have these murals to brighten up an otherwise white scene for them!

This only one half of a large mural depicting the rolling hills, lush valleys and wandering rivers of the Canadian prairie.

This ceramic mural depicts the Temple Garden Spa in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan,
where guests can enjoy a spa treatment or swim in the indoor/outdoor hot springs pool.

Moose Jaw's legendary reputation, as having once been Al Capone's hideout, means many murals depict his era.

Canada's air show favorites, the Snowbirds, are based in Moose Jaw.

A company trip to Florida, enjoyed by Dick and his daughter Andrea.

I was not up to visiting a hot climate at a hot time of year. Nope, did NOT want to.

Stayed home, sent Dick with Andrea instead, and they had a wonderful time.

Brought home lots of photos for me and my blog. Yessss!
