For my lost, blue love

"Isala" by Ikea
I fell in love
when I shouldn’t have—
I fell in love today:
her name is Isala,
she lives at Ikea,
and she can’t come here to stay.

I’m drawing plans:
I’m planning to
redecorate
the living room
in a clean,
crisp style,
that’s easy to maintain.

But while searching Ikea
on the internet,
for wall lamps with cords
(and finding them, too, I might add)
I somehow spotted Isala there
and she’s driving me quite mad.

She’s so blue
she’s nearly grey
but despite all that, she’s gay
and bright, and lively, too.
I’d love to possess her,
I would, wouldn’t you?
I would, I would, but she won’t do.

I’m looking instead
for black and white
and greyer shades of grey,
and lines that don’t attract the dust,
and cause all kinds of dusting fuss,
as her lovely legs would,
wouldn’t they?

So, farewell, Isala,
it has been fun
to have you
on my desktop
for a day,
where I could take a peek at you
when life got in my way.

Great piece of furniture.
Much to our taste.

I say, this love should not remain unrequited. Bring Isala home to stay.

Somehow it seemed the Ikea people did make a tactical mistake here! Black and shades of grey extend a feel of elegance. She should allow some leeway from blue! Nicely Kay!

Very cute, I hope the cabinet you do find is as wonderful as you have made this one seem.

The beauty of that piece of furniture calls to me, too - I'd love one! LOL And I just wouldn't look at the dust!!

I think she is perfect for your vision of the living room. Many shades of gray would be cool and soothing. You could ignore the dust on her legs for months on end quite easily. Trust me, I know these things!

Gosh, I am in awe that someone dusts the legs of their furniture!! I would never even have thought of it.(I am an outside worker, mostly) I love this picture you paint of an inanimate(albeit gorgeous) object Kay--a real personality, and I also love that pale grey-blue color, so much so, I sided my last house in it. Good luck at resisting temptation.

One is expected to dust? Really? When did that start???

@ FB — It's not so much when it started (a long time ago) as when it stopped.
