Camera Critter -- Canet Cat

Earlier this month, we rented a condo for a week in Canet-en-Roussillon, in the very south of France. We never found out if this sweet tabby lived in one of the other apartments, or if he was the camp cat, but we would usually meet him near the laundry room and he'd follow us to the bottom of our staircase or, if we were going out, to the lobby parking lot, but never farther than that.

One day, instead of passing the laundry room, we were there doing our laundry. Dick spotted a lizard and called to me to bring my camera. I focused on the lizard just about the same time the cat did.

He leapt, and got nothing but a faceful of the bush as the lizard disappeared into it. I hope our photography didn't deprive him of his lunch.

I have to admit being a birder, I am not much of a cat person. I would like to see people keep their pet cats indoors. This one was probably a stray and hopefully has been fixed. I am happy to hear that the lizard escaped. Sounds like you had a lovely vacation.

Hope he found lunch somewhere else :)

Cat's always seem to make themselves at home. There was one sleeping quietly in the laundry at a campground we stayed at recently. It ignored me, I guess it was used to strangers on its turf.

Cats do eat lizards - hope the lizard made it to safety! Thanks for visiting.
