Watery Canet Plage, Catalan coast, France

Posted for Watery Wednesday, wherein
2sweetnsaxy (aka T. Bruce Photography) invites us to get our eyes wet.

These photos are the last in a series on Canet Plage (Canet Beach) in southern France.
Sailing, swimming, sunning, funning...activities abound in this pretty town in
the Mediterranean area of Languedoc-Roussillon known as the Catalan Coast.

Canet-en-Roussillon, our world for a week

Across the street from the Europa Hotel, we could catch the bus to Perpignan, and up the street we could catch a bus to the beach at Canet Plage. The bus stops had great views of Mont Canigou.

Our apartment (we didn't get any exterior shots) had two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a small kitchen, a living area and a balcony big enough for a table, two chairs, and a folding laundry-dryer. The location, between Perpignan with its "center of the universe" train station (according to Salvador Dali), and Canet Plage with its beautiful Mediterranean beach, was perfect for our sightseeing needs.
Our condo at Malibu Village was the center of our world for a week in Canet-en-RousillonHere, Dick waits for me in the shade of the laundry room, while the camp tabby-cat sits in the shade of the wisteria pergola, hoping to see a lizard or something else to eat. Read about his hunting here.

Canet Plage, YELLOWS on Catalan coast, France

© Photos by Kay Davies and Richard Schear, April 2011

Christmas in April in Canet Plage? LOL

I would love to have this house because it's within walking distance of the bus and the beach!
Several mellow yellows reflected in the windows here.

by Drowsey Monkey. Thanks, Drowsey!

These photos were taken in April at the Mediterranean seaside town of  Canet Plage (Canet Beach) in the south of France, near Perpignan, not far from the Spanish border. The Languedoc-Roussillon area, where Canet Plage is located, is historically considered part of Catalonia (Catalunya).

Canet Plage, SHADOWS on Catalan coast, France

Canine camera critters in Canet

In April, after we returned from our month in Europe, I did a Camera Critters post about this tabby cat, our lovable little French friend who lives at the Malibu condo complex in Canet-en-Roussillon near Perpignan in the very south of France. Click the link below to see him trying to catch a small lizard.

Today I have photos from the Mediterranean beachside town of Canet Plage (Canet Beach). Even though this is often called the Catalan Coast, I'm featuring canines at the beach: one who works there, and some who are just spending the day with their families, or perhaps making new friends.

The basket on the left belongs to the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel on the right. This small but watchful guard dog at the beachside stand is careful not to fall off the counter.
The heat haze doesn't seem to bother anyone on the beach, including a big yellow dog.
(I can never resist photos of big yellow dogs, so my husband captured this shot for me.)

Canet Plage — this is the BEACH, Baby!

Do you remember back in old L.A.
When everybody drove a Chevrolet?
Whatever happened to the boy next door –
The sun-tanned crew-cut all-American male?

Beach Baby, Beach Baby,

                               give me your hand
Give me somethin' that I can remember,
Just like before we can walk by the shore

                                    in the moonlight
Beach Baby, Beach baby,

                                there on the sand
From July 'til the end of September
Surfin' was fun, we'd be out

                            in the sun every day

Do you remember back in gai Par-ee
When monsieur drove a Renault BRV?
Whatever happened to the boy next door –
The mustached, long-haired, all-Parisian male?
Beach Bébé, Beach Bébé, donnez-moi votre main,
Donnez-moi quelque chose que je me souviens,
Just like before we can walk by the shore au clair de lune
Beach Bébé, Beach Bébé, there on the sand,
From Juillet to the end of Septembre.
Surfin’ was fun, we’d be out au soleil every day.

With apologies to my French-speaking friends who tell me Google Translate does a terrible job!
