All the words in boldface are from Fireblossom's list, but not all the words from her list are in my poem.
I would love

a kitchen garden—
salad from a package
of seeds,
but the riddle
for succeeding
drove me crazy.
now I want to
choose the seeds
of my favourite things
to plant where animals
cannot reach them—
the simplicity of
this system stunned me

Thanks to gardenweb.com for the photo and the idea. I have a vegetable-loving dog who can sniff out free veggies from two blocks away, and I have a bad back, so I have a hard time bending down to tend a garden. This solution seems to address both problems. My old patio table is probably still sturdy enough to hold a couple of bags of potting soil, but I don't think I'll be growing any squashes any time soon. Baby carrots, however...yum!

I cannot imagine living without a kitchen garden. One of my greatest joys and cheapest therapies!
I'm glad I' not the only one with critter issues. I cannot imagine trying a kitchen garden! Butch raccoon, Fred groundhog, the various deer, and the muskrat totally confound me. I just cannot be bothered! I've got that t-shirt, and I have been enjoying my ornamentals!
I love going to market for organic goodies, too!
Thanks for the interesting inspiration, Kay!

Hah, I was trying to work out if I might be able to grow tomatoes and chilis up here on the first floor... a table garden could be just the thing!!! YAM xx
Well that IS a good idea. My back wont let me garden either, Kay. I content myself with a few plants along my porch railing.
gardening is indeed a great stress buster
My back doesn't like gardening either, but I do. I have container and rabbits poking their head out between them-quite a site for our hound! I love the photos and a window box of lettuce might work for you-I have done it! ((hugs))
We recently relocated back to Canada from seven years living in WA state where, somewhere along the way, I acquired a desire--more of a need--to garden. Our new home isn't conducive to gardening (well, the deer might appreciate a new kitchen garden to munch on) so I took a plot in a community garden. That place is my joy, my stress-buster, my happiest place on earth. I made the first salad of the season with greens from the garden last night!
What a good idea to grow veggies, without the hassle of the actual garden.
A cool idea and your words are wonderful woven in here Kay!
Husband has a pool table size tabletop garden with lettuce in it. You can grow things in bags of good compost too. Just cut holes in the side of the bag on the table and insert plant! No weeds. No backache. Great for beets!
This is wonderful--the poem and the garden!
