One tourist's trash is another one's treasure

Below, do any of these guys look familiar? The only one we're missing for Mellow Yellow Monday is Donovan.

There you go, take your wife one of these giant flowers and she won't need another one until Christmas (it was already December when we were there).

Tweety Bird looks pretty good with a festive imitation poinsettia between his feet, but who is the tall hombre with the cigarette?

Hey, guys, did you forget something important when you were packing? A corkscrew, perhaps, or a jackknife for fighting your way through the wilds of Catalonia?

My husband took these pictures of some of the "goodies" awaiting tourists near the popular Barcelona pedestrian thoroughfare La Rambla. While he did this, I was asleep in our hotel room after a long flight to London, a mad rush through Heathrow, and a flight to Barcelona. The unfittie here (that would be me) had insisted we get there a few days early for our Canary Islands cruise with Royal Caribbean in case I needed to rest. Next time we fly to Europe, we're stopping overnight in Toronto, then flying non-stop to Amsterdam, again at my insistence.

Oh my, these are beyond tacky!

(and I cannot hear the term mellow yellow without thinking of Donovan!!)

You're right, Lesley. My husband says you have to be a thick-skinned tourist, sort of a tachyderm, to like this stuff. But he's an unrecovered punster.
And I know what you mean about Donovan, too. LOL

Really good shots. Nice place to shop around.

Well, yes, Rajesh. Barcelona is a nice place to shop. I don't think I'd choose these shops, though. My husband took the pictures. Must be a guy thing.

You certainly have the yellow pinned down and it is quite a whimsical assortment. Sounds like you had a fun time. :-)

Thanks for my blog visit. Take care & God bless.

Very nice shots. My boys (hubs included) can spend hours in those shops. :0

Happy MYM.

All the things you might be tempted to buy in a moment of unguarded enthusiasm mixed with a lack of sleep - very interesting photos, though. Who buys this stuff?

Surely many of my "Kababayan" (people from our country) will really visit that place. This must be a wonderful place to shop! Happy Monday dear Kay!

Maybe cuz guys don't do the dusting - usually. Love that junk, er, stuff. Mellow Yellow is one of those tunes...it jumps in and plays even if I just think of MYM. Good find, Kay. Thanks for the visit.

Some of those are pretty bad! I do like the stars hanging from the ceiling in the first shot. All this provided some great photo ops for your hubby though!

Kay, this stuff is so familiar to me... some of it from India (the star lights, for instance), some of it from China... These chachkas are big big business... and SOMEONE must buy it, because we just keep on producing it in Asia! :-D

Amazing to think people buy these things to take home. LOL -- Thanks for all the comments, everyone.

NOTE TO JUNNETH -- I went to your blog, was unable to leave a comment either on the clown picture, or about your beautiful mother. I lost my mother, and I know how you feel.
Also tried to follow your blog but wasn't able to get it to work. Might be my computer. I don't know. Sorry -- K

Great pics! How can I ever forget La Rambla. My hubby was pickpocketed there, lol. It wasn't funny at the time, of course, cause I spent my whole day making calls to banks and credit card companies to cancel accounts. Now, he wants to go back there to put pins inside his pockets, lol....Christine

You're right, Sarah. I wasn't even sure why I kept these photos. They wouldn't be my choice. But for Mellow Yellow Monday? Perfect. ;~)
