Clouds disappearing in Portuguese skies
My regular sky photographer makes an appearance here today, because these photos my husband Dick took "somewhere in Portugal" are, even if he doesn't remember where he took them, beautiful examples of the brilliant blue skies he experienced on a tour somewhere west (and perhaps north) of Lisbon. Meanwhile, I was in the capital in the fog, enjoying a shorter tour with our friends from the Brilliance of the Seas during our cruise with Royal Caribbean in December, 2008.
However, the photos speak for themselves. As the blue of the sky gets ever deeper from the first to the last, we have no need of captions. Hopefully, though, someone might know something about the top two pictures at least, as the first is very distinctive and the second is very beautiful. (Francisca, you've been everywhere! Any ideas?)

LOVE those clear blue skies! We don't see many of those here in Ontario, I'm afraid.
Such beautiful architecture here! The pristine white cathedral against that brilliant blue sky. Lovely.
P.S. I love your dog, too! And thanks for stopping by to visit my blog today.
I love those buildings and their color is awesome so great with the blue sky.

Oh, I love those wonderful blue skies, too! And they do remind me of the time I spent in Portugal! Gorgeous captures! Hope you guys have a great weekend with lots more beautiful skies!

Oh, my. Lovely photos and lovely blog. I can see I will need to add your blog to my list!
These are all wonderful shots from Portugal. The sky is beautiful and I love the architecture.
Such pretty blue skies, it's hard to believe fog could be anywhere nearby.
Beautiful architecture, and a rose by any other name is still as lovely so we will just enjoy Richard's photos and marvel at the blue skies.
What beautiful blue skies backing the white architecture. Thanks for sharing. (((Hugs))) Jo
I've never been to Europe and probably never will get there. Thanks for sharing a little piece. - Margy
Fantastic blue skies with gorgeous buildings
Lovely blue sky on top of beautiful buildings.
First I thought "that can't be in Canada" lol ! and then I saw which country it was ! Beautiful pictures !
fabulous shades of blue, thanks for taking us on tour through your photos
Such beautiful skies!
Your husband took some great photos, thanks for sharing them here. They make me smile on a rainy morning.

The first one is Sintra. The angel makes it harder to recognize but those two towers are characteristic. (so he went up North).
Him not remembering where he took the photos made me laugh.
Thanks.
Those skies really are a brilliant blue! Wow! I love the whitewashed architecture. Too bad you were stuck in the fog!
I wouldn't mind seeing those beautiful blue skies for a few days. A last bit of summer before the proper autumn kicks in.
@ Ania -- So he DID go as far as Sintra. I remember there was one tour to Cascais and one to Sintra, but he didn't remember which he was on. This might jog his memory. Thank you so much. I was hoping someone would recognize those towers! -- K
Bonjour dear Kay
Your husband is skilled at photography, these pictures are excellent!
I'm in love for that first one, BEAUTIFUL sky and composition!
Thanks for these sweet memories that your post brings us, in fact Cezar and I have visited Lisbon and Sintra in 2005 and it was a lovely and romantic trip.
Another important thing, I need to say that Lindy is adorable!Fantastic picture on your sidebar!
hugs

Beautiful blue skies... If only the weather was that nice here at the moment! :)
what a beautiful place to visit.
Absolutely beautiful places.
Thanks for visiting my Sky Watch Friday
Thank you for sharing these beautiful skies with us, Portugal is a place I would love to visit myself!
lovely place to be.
Those skies are magic -- you know that for many of us you could just make up names for thesse photos and we'd (sadly) never know the difference!! (But I know your conscience wouldn't let you do that.). I'd love to see your foggier day pix as well. Seems like a good idea to split up the shore tours on a ruise. -- twice as many things to talk about.
The sky is so bright and beautiful, Made the buildings stand out !
Great posted !
and please have a lovely weekend : )
You are SO funny, dear Kay. And you know, I may well have been in Sintra! One summer in the early '80s I drove with my parents from the top of Portugal along the coast right to Lisbon and on to the bottom and back into Spain. But I was not a camera freak in those days, and my memory for names has always been highly suspect. Glad you got your answer. And that's a fabulous blue sky with white buildings that Richard captured. :-)
Thanks, Francisca. I'm going through a streak of Writer's Block for a few months because I haven't been well. The doctor seems to be getting a handle on the problem, and I can feel my old self emerging. However, writing humor isn't easy at the best of times, and almost impossible when I'm under the weather. (See Chapters 1-18 of An Unfittie's Guide to Adventurous Travel, archived on this blog beginning Nov. 2009.) These memes are really a life-saver for me when I'm having difficulty writing. They get the creative juices flowing and, who knows, maybe Chapters 19 and 20 will appear one of these days. Thanks again.

spectacular architecture.
We were in Portugal a few years back, but those beautiful photos don't quite ring a bell. Then again, I have such a poor memory.
Disappearing clouds are something we could do with a bit more of here sometimes.
I love the white telephone box - it fits well with the rest of the buildings.
