Mediterranean sunsets

My husband just loved to be back onboard the ship before dark during our Spanish Mediterranean, Lisbon & Canary Islands cruise with Royal Caribbean. From our balcony, he would mark the end of each day ashore by taking a picture of the sunset. He's particularly pleased with the last one, which he calls "Hole in the Sky"!
So, I offer our four favorites of these special photos by Richard Schear for this week's Skywatch Friday.

These are all fantastic. The first and last one are my favorites. I love the golden sky and sun in the first and the one that your husband thinks looks like a hole in the sky makes me think of a spot light from the sky.

They are all very beautiful, Kay, but I am particularly taken with the silver quality in the third photo. Contratulations to Richard.

Thank you, the third one is my favorite, too.
I'm so pleased my husband is turning out to be a good photographer, because my hands get shakier all the time.

all are stunning but I LOVE the first one. Have a happy sky watching weekend.

Those are all amazing! I think I even see a star twinkling in one of those skies! That last one is very strange...never seen anything like it. It's almost as if the beam is guiding the way for your boat. Fabulous shots and how fun to be able to do some skywatching from a ship. Enjoy!

Kay L. Davies said...

Linnea -- I think the star is a plane. There's a twinkle on the water, too, which I think is another ship.

Brilliant sunsets! The last one could be used in religious books as an illustration of the creation of the world..."and God said :Let there be light, and there was light"...
Thanks for your visit and comment.

So nice to see Lindy’s loveable face on your sidebar. And speaking of wonderful things, what incredible captures Dick got of the evening skies. Very impressive!

All you need do is wait for a few minutes and see the skies changing before your eyes. Very nice post for today.

Kay L. Davies said...

Penelope -- you're right. The picture of her sleeping showed the view I have of her from my computer chair, but her face is prettier!!

LV -- you're right, too. The sky seen from a ship is an ever-changing vista.

Wil -- At this moment I am wondering how my Jewish-agnostic husband will take your suggestion about his photo on religious books. All comments get sent to him by e-mail. I think it's a wonderful idea, but ... :~)

Kay these are beautiful photos, I especially like the one taken from the tram(?). I am very partial to that time at the edge of the world. Your blog is great and I look forward to coming back and reading more. Thanks for stopping by my blog and have a great weekend.

That hole in the sky is especially wonderful!

Thanks for visiting my blog and your lovely comments about George and Harvey.

Lindy is a beauty. They're such lovely-natured dogs.

Carolyn -- I think you mean the bridge of the ship showing on the right. Our balcony didn't have an unobstructed view but I think the captain's bridge adds character to the shot.
Thanks for your compliment. I really like that shot, too.

Some things demand to be a "hole", for example glasses, doors ... that last picture fills the soul indeed. Please have you all a good weekend.
