Birds and ...oh! deer! ...in my world today

I love to hear the mourning doves cooing in our yard. This pretty one was sitting on someone's fence when Dick and Lindy took a walk recently.

Magpies aren't much appreciated by farmers here in southeastern Alberta, but the first time I saw one, I thought it was beautiful. This one isn't bothering anyone's crops, however, as Dick and Lindy walk by.

Gotta wonder where this robin found a worm in the dry desert, but there's been a lot of rain, so there's soft, moist dirt at the bottoms of the coulees.

Dick and Lindy were walking, and in the field ahead, they saw a head...

...rise up, and it was a white-tailed deer!

A little startling to see the deer head in the grasses. So glad that the other body parts showed up in the next photo. :))

That mourning dove has pretty colourings. But how exciting to see a deer - and he didn't even bolt in the other direction!

I love the first shot of the Deer lol, it really looks like just a head! I love Doves and us Brits cherish them, but Okies hunt them!!

There is a nice neighbourly feel to this post, Kay. I try to capture birds with my lens but they are devilishly difficult.

I am always excited when I meet a deer. Unfortunately it won't happen in our densely populated country, but when we were in Denmark we did.
Have a great week, Kay! :)

Beautiful wild life. I am sure the fall is beautiful and is round the corner for you. Nice to see animals and birds in their habitat. Great pictures and thank you for sharing.

To be in such wild surroundings... what a joy!

Indrani -- you're right. It is a joy. We Canadians take our wild surroundings for granted. Because our country is so large and underpopulated, we have wilderness areas of different kinds within reach of every city and town. But we have to remember how fortunate we are to have these things. Thank you.
