Pet Pride: non-verbal communication

Lindy knows she isn't to bark in the house, unless she is telling us she wants to go outside, but she gets very excited when someone comes in the door, especially her daddy, so she finds one of her squeaky toys (this one is a bunny rabbit) and lets it make the noise for her! It's such fun to be greeted by a dog trick instead of by a lot of barking, and it makes Lindy very happy.

This is Lindy's newest toy. We call it Biggy Piggy because she has a little piggy toy the same size as the bunny in the top photo. Lindy will pick up Biggy Piggy to welcome us, or to welcome visitors, but it doesn't squeak, it grunts. Lindy seems to think this is very funny.

Pet Pride: Lindy and the missing bunny

Lindy has two squeaky toys, which she squeaks to indicate how happy she is, because she knows better than to bark in the house. However, she does like to take her toys outside, and sometimes they don't come back.
We haven't seen the bunny for a while, and the piggy disappeared last week during the packing-up for the kitchen renovation.
But here is Lindy in happier times, while her bunny was still in the picture, so to speak. We don't talk about her squeaky cow, which met a lawnmower a couple of years ago, because it makes Lindy and her mom sad.
