Pet Pride: portrait of a happy Lindy

Photos copyright Richard Schear, 2012

Lindy sat and posed so her daddy could get a portrait of her at Police Point Park in Medicine Hat yesterday. He was able to let go of her leash and stand back to take her picture. Fortunately, Lindy didn't notice there were people behind her, because she might have decided to visit them. She does love people, especially people with babies! She happily stands still so babies and others can pet her.

"Hi, Bozo," she says, "it just hasn't been the same without you. So many pictures of people and not enough pictures of dogs!"

Pet Pride: one shoe off and three shoes on

Hi, it's me—Lindy!
I'm slim, and I'm trim, and I'm lovely, so if I want to let my dad carry one of my snow boots for me, it's okay. I've been around cyberspace long enough to know I have a few fans, perhaps more than a few, so I'm not proud. I know we'll go home, where my mom will have a hissy-fit about my poor, sad, cold foot, and she'll make sure my dad gets all the snow out from between the pads, and gets my hair good and dry.

Lindy says, "Hi, Bozo. I really don't need boots. I can chew the ice-balls out from between the pads of my feet, but it makes my mom and dad happy when I let them put the boots on me. And they are reflective, which is a nice safety feature when Dad and I are walking at night. Do you go walking at night? I know you don't need snow boots, but maybe reflectors?"

Pet Pride: Lindy with her Kong

When Lindy's mom and dad go out for a couple of hours and leave her in the nice big fenced back yard, they give her a treat to keep her occupied for as long as possible. She stays busy for quite a while when her red Kong toy is filled with peanut butter. Here, her daddy gave her the Kong, then peeked at her from behind her favorite tree to get some photos of the peanut butter process!

"Hi Bozo," says Lindy. "I don't like to have my family leave me behind,
"but I do love eating the peanut butter out of my red toy.
"It's good exercise, too, especially for my jaws and my paws!
"And it's so nice in my yard now that the snow has melted.
I hope it doesn't come back."

Pet Pride: no pride when my dish is empty!

There's no yogurt in my white bowl. There are no vegetables in my red bowl. Sure, there's some water in the green bowl, but who wants water? I prefer soup. It's just as wet as water, but it tastes better.

"Hi, Bozo," says Lindy. "I'm sure glad you're home from the dog hospital, you and your big heart. It's sure a good thing the doctors know about your big heart now. Sometimes they just don't know everything, until they do doctor-tests. I've had some doctor-tests, too, so I understand."

Pet Pride, Shadow Shot Sunday: sunbathing

Before her curls grew back, when just a few leaves were falling from the trees, on days when the temperature wasn't too hot, Lindy loved sunbathing. Her hip made shadows on her side and the lawn, her head made shadows on her neck, even her ear made shadows. She was also glad the trees were making shadows on the lawn, just in case she decided to take a break from her sunbathing.
