Kay Davies photo, 2016 |
There is a fringe where your world and mine meet, merge, meld for a month or more. Differences disappear and the common ground seems solid.
We walk on this illusory rock confidently, comfortably, tempted to take this temporary thing as truth.
The rock is a lie.

What is it in the human mind that recognizes mirages yet yearns to accept them as real? That, upon waking, refuses to recognize the death of a dream?
We're masochists all, we humans, walking wide-eyed into pain, daring it to hurt us and recoiling in surprise when it strikes.
Optimists eternally hoping, fools who know no fear.
Into the lion's den we walk, softly crooning, "Kitty, kitty, kitty."
Hand held out to stroke the head of a rabid dog; bare feet in the scorpion's lair; bare heart held in a heartless lover's hand.

I very much loved this prose poem Kay! You have been writing beautifully for a few years now !! Without optimism however, we'd just curl up in a corner as soon as we reached adulthood and stay there. (Adulthood happening at whatever age we first encounter reality. It comes at different ages for each of us.)

What a beautiful piece of writing, Kay! (Sorry been a bit 'absent' - was over in Edin without the laptop...) YAM xx
I love the mix of light and shadow on the mountain. Makes me want to climb or at least breathe deep.
That's a wonderful poem perfectly matched with photos.
Well done ~ very contemplative writing ~ and great photos!

Wow!! I am speechless!
Raw and blunt and powerful are your words, Kay. Reading your poem I realize how much being positive is imperative for me. A life line lost otherwise.
I love the sky picture ! Nice post !
Fascinating words and gorgeous photo.
I´d say it is all real. And then there is a brain trying to make sence of it all. We could not live here otherwise!
Kay I love the fact that you match a 2016 photo with your writing from 1979. Your writing is very thought provoking, I have read it several times now, it has certainly passed the test of time. I like to try to be an optimist eternally hoping, this world sends it's challenges in that respect! Lovely peice of writing.
Happy Days
