The lighthouse, the light, and the house

Lighthouse Dandelions by Jamie Wyeth

the molten light before the storm
kept everyone awake
except the lighthouse keeper—
he knew the storm would break,
then cease
as suddenly as it came—
he knew the light
and it was good

Oh, how I love "molten light before the storm!" And that last line. Very nicely done!

Short and crisp. Loved the positive tone of the poem.

As often happens there is that one person in a family or a group who accepts the challenge and responsibility for betterment of others. Truly said Kay!

My goodness, Kay. What a beautiful metaphor for how we worry when God knows He can calm the storm all along. We scurry and go frantic, but His hands are in control.

I love this whole section:
"except the lighthouse keeper-
he knew the storm would break,
then cease
as suddenly as it came—
he knew the light
and it was good"

I like your Biblical reference at the end "the light ... and it was good."

Ah the wisdom of the lighthouseman! They often knew as much as any satellite can tell us now! YAMxx

I like the idea of the lighthouse keeper, well accustomed to storms. I loved a good storm in Tofino.

The lighthouse keeper is a mythic figure to me and nicely raised into a demi-God stature herein, gold and good.

Very nicely done! I imagine a lighthouse keeper might be chillin' like a villain in the middle of a storm that was making everyone else wail and gnash their teeth.

I think that picture is fabulous and your poem does it justice. It is deceptively simple, but says so much about how people can adapt to almost anything.
One of my new favourites of yours, Kay.

The opening line was amazing.."molten light"

Kay, always look at the color of the sky. That "molten" look is often a portent of cyclones and tornadoes, according to my mom, who grew up in Iowa, where they had their share. This was not only meteorologically accurate but simply lovely. Amy

It's almost pseudoku-like, with the twist from a storm to 'it was good'.
It was a good poem, too!

When you've seen enough storms, I guess you know eventually they do all pass.

This is delightful Kay...really charming...and how could I resist commenting on another Albertan's poem? Have we connected before? I have crap for a memory so it's possible but it always surprises me when I find another Canuck on here...
In any case, great poem...
