Weekend Reflections: to tree or not to tree?

That has been the question for the past ten years, because my husband and intrepid photographer, Richard Schear, isn't interested in Christmas, having been born into and brought up with Jewish traditions. In fact, we have sometimes deliberately scheduled our travels for late December.  But, yesterday, Dick cheerfully went through the trap-door and down the ladder into the cellar (something I've never been able to do) and brought up my little Charlie Brown artificial tree for me. He held it still while I looped a ribbon of LED lights around it, and the dog watched as I fastened three sizes of red baubles onto it. Someone sent Dick a card in a gold envelope, so I used the envelope to fashion an amateur-looking star, which I attached with masking tape to the top of my tree. Then, last night, I took photos, with reflections in the window overlooking the snow outside, and also on the metallic "needles" of the tree.
