On the train to Avignon: water everywhere!

We enjoyed traveling by train in Europe. It meant we got to our destinations with minimal fuss and practically no stress (once we got used to the process) and Dick had both hands free for his camera. These watery shots were taken between our "home" station, Perpignan, in Languedoc-Roussillon, and one of my must-see cities in France: Avignon. We passed an amazing amount of water on the way. At times there was water on both sides of the train at once, even though we weren't crossing a bridge.

Between Perpignan and Beziers.

Above, and below, between Bezier and Nimes. Unfortunately, the sign
on the lamp-post in the picture below just says "detour"
so it doesn't provide a further clue to location.

Camera Critters: Avignon, France

Avignon's most amazing camera critter is this balancing elephant, and I have read it is only temporary, that it was intended to be removed last November. However, it was still there in April, 2011, to see us.

You can see how big these critters and their lunches are by the size of the pigeon on the ledge below.

I was quite smitten with this brown pigeon, who, in turn, seems to be quite smitten with the white and grey pigeon. I don't remember ever seeing a brown pigeon before.

Avignon, warm for Weekend Reflections

The weather on April 5 this year was very warm in Avignon. 28 degrees Celsius is 82 degrees Fahrenheit. We liked the building reflected in the drugstore sign showing the temperature.
(Do you think the numbers 28 and 82, when transposed, are reflections of one another?)

Two more buildings in Avignon are reflected in this window, luckily for us but unluckily for the inhabitants who forgot to roll down the nice blue awning as protection from unseasonal heat.
