Yep, snow it is. On my crabapple blossoms. You know what they say about Alberta weather? Nothing good.
Posting here for Our World Tuesday, which will be tomorrow, but you can tell I'm having one of those days!

Mixed-up spring time in Alberta

Our ancient ornamental crabapple tree, which the deer love so much in winter because it provides them with food, is outdoing itself this year.
The leaves are still trying to form, but that hasn't stopped the buds from budding and the blooms from blooming.

And all the while being watched, guardedly, by our neighbours' young golden spaniel, who isn't sure if she wants to make friends with me or not. We know she sees Lindy when she's outside, but Lindy can't see her, and can seldom be bothered returning her greeting (warning?) bark for bark, although we occasionally hear one deep woof from our side of the fence, and quiet descends upon the other side.
All is well.
We haven't been getting much rain, however, so today I watered the Ornamental Crabapple, and a few other trees. The forecast says we might have rain next week.

Springtime in southeastern Alberta

Still trying to get used to using my cellphone as a camera. I took these today when we were in Medicine Hat.

Nothing quite this gorgeous in our yard, but our Ornamental Crabapple is coming into leaf, and we expect it to bloom next month.
Next lesson...learn to use my cellphone to access the internet.

Photos and forgetting

This itty-bitty poorly-focused photo is here just to prove that Spring seems to be on the way in southeastern Alberta.
"Seems to be" is the phrase to note, however. We've been fooled before. I remember snow in Spring once, and real Albertans remember snow once or twice in each and every month of the year.
So they say.
Therefore, when I saw Nanking Cherry blossoms in our yard last week, I simply had to go out with my cell-phone-camera to provide proof.
I learned one thing. My phone-camera gizmo does not like close-ups, especially when the wind is blowing.
And I learned something else, too, but I forget what it was.
Sigh.
When I grow up, I want to have my memory back.
Meanwhile, to all my friends who have stuck with the Unfittie in her unfittedness, thanks for being there.
