ABC Wednesday: J is for Journey

This is my husband's car, a red Chevy Malibu. The car directly in front of it is my red Chevy Malibu, which I'm very used to driving. I`m less familiar with the newer car (his) but it gets twice the gas mileage mine does, so, of course, we use it for long trips. One of the journeys he undertakes on a regular basis is the 9-hour drive to Fort McMurray, Alberta. I volunteered to accompany him, as co-pilot, on his ``Fort Mac`` journey this month, because his recent surgery (planned preventative surgery, not an emergency) has left him a trifle weaker than he used to be, so he tires more readily, and I`d like to have him come home in one piece. Even I`m not quite as relaxed with his car as I am with mine, I still think two drivers are better than one. I`m sure you agree. We`re spending tonight in Edmonton, heading northeast to the oil sands tomorrow.

I'm glad you are accompanying your husband. I hope you will take many photos along the way. I love the north country and I've never been to Ft. McMurray.

Poor Dick... I hope he's 100% real soon.

I'm surprised you'd pick the same color twice; I thought it'd be easier to keep track of if they were different shades.

When it comes to long distances then it's always better to be two drivers ! and after a while you get used to the car too.

Using the car you are comfortable driving with makes the journey more enjoyable.

Yes, it's good to have two drivers. Often, though, Jules and I get drowsy at the same time, then we find a quiet place to pull over and both take a nap.

My hubby and I have to take turns driving on trips these days. It used to be he would drive the whole trip and I would sleep. He gets sleepy driving now so we take turns and stop more often than our younger days.
Happy Trails!

I can't imagine a nine hour drive Kay - that would take me overseas. tell Richard to take it easy and maybe take a bus, train or plane? By the way Peregrines aren't necessarily the most used for falconry, often I believe a mix of species combines the best of each.

Glad you were able to go along as his co-pilot. If needed you could have taken the wheel. Lovely. :)
