Verbose as I am, it was a struggle, but I managed to keep it right on the wire at 50. I don't know how Mama Zen manages to pack so much fire and life into so few words, but I intend to observe her at Real Toads for the next millennium or so, to see if I can figure it out.

Santa dear
I sadly fear
we’ve got too much stuff—
I’d like, this year,
please, Santa dear,
someone who’d get tough
enough
to rid the house of everything
we really never need—
the broken
the redundant
the unused and the ugly—
just leave our little hobbit house
adorable and snuggly

I love it! And, when they're done with your house, they can come work on mine!
ReplyDeleteI love the warmth
ReplyDeleteYour words share
Craving a fresh start
Hobbit homes are
Clever n cute
Hah.
ReplyDeleteYou forgot the 'just in case...'.
That plea sounds almost heartfelt Kay. Stopped by for the birds.
ReplyDeleteIt is an adorable hobbit house! And all those things in it make it home.
ReplyDeleteSo Cozy, this poem (and your home)
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean...I feel the need to let go of things right now...wish it could all go to people needing things. It's certainly a process. :) I enjoy the rhyme, Kay!
ReplyDeleteLove it! I think every word here is essential. You and lots of others are asking for things I'd love to have as well. Do you think a Santa with the power to do this could also cut the fat off our poems?
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean and couldn't agree more.
ReplyDeleteOh this is great! And you kept just enough words in this :o)
ReplyDeleteI think that's a problem for almost all of us who aren't in absolute, abject poverty. I know that's on my list of resolutions too! Merry Christmas Kay!
We do this too...why do we want to save everything? And yes, adorable and snuggly is just right.
ReplyDeleteTotally love this! :) I could use the exact same thing.
ReplyDeleteI hear you on this! Words well spoken!
ReplyDeleteI love it!! I should have asked Santa for the same thing!!
ReplyDeleteYou've hit the nail on the head! We could all do with a stuffless life!
ReplyDeleteMy birthday, being Dec. 26th, hubby bought me a zoom lens for birthday & Xmas! My Christmas is over!
ReplyDeletenothing better than an adorable hobbit house. nothing!
