I don't know how Judy at Squirrel Queen does it, but she is forever getting wonderful squirrel closeups, and I can't take a squirrel photo for the life of me. They always run in terror when they see ferocious old me. But there is a squirrel (a black one, look very carefully) and there are some nice reflections, too, in these photos I attempted in Calgary last Monday.

I have never seen a black squirrel...put out some bird seed or peanuts...they will be sure to stick around for a photo shoot ;)
ReplyDeleteYes, yes, we can see the black squirrels! Purrs!
ReplyDeleteCloseup or not I think it's pretty cool. I've never seen a black squirrel before.
ReplyDeletePS. Early March seems like a good time to go to Venice. I prefer traveling during the off season because I don't like crowds or hot weather. :) We were there late Nov/early Dec and it was wonderful.
Yes, they are elusive! Even stray cats are difficult. But there's fun in trying to snap them! Nicely Kay!

I can see him! I didn't know you could get black squirrels, we only have grey round here x
ReplyDeleteI usually get photos of the back end of a squirrel with it's tail flicking disdainfully at me.
ReplyDeleteThe reflection in the little window is really neat. The squirrel is hiding in the shadows. I agree fast moving critters are hard to photograph.
ReplyDeleteHello Kay!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures with delicate and colorful reflections!
I wish you a lovely day,

I know what you mean, Kay...it can be hard catching a squirrel in quiet repose...for me, almost an impossibility as I always have the energetic Meeghan at my side! One high-pitched bark from her and everything flees...lol!
ReplyDeleteBeing fond of the Fraser River, you might enjoy my post for 'J'. Do have a wonderful week...:)

I've never seen a black squirrel, up close or far away.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty pictures, and I'm impressed you got a black one at all. I used to live in an area that got various different squirrel species, and the black ones for some reason were the most wild! Red ones were the most friendly. Isn't that weird?
ReplyDeleteWow! A black squirrel! Great captures Kay!
ReplyDeleteSquirrels do have a way of blending in with the natural environment, don't they!
