Usually, by July, there aren't many wild fresh greens to be seen in our world, but this year's exceptional rains have kept the deer eating and the birds singing.
Although we live in the wild, wild west, I've been told this pretty bird is an Eastern Meadowlark. I've never seen one, but my husband got this nice shot while he was walking Lindy last week. Correction: the person who said this is an Eastern Meadowlark now says it is a Western Meadowlark. She says they look the same but migrate on different paths.
The deer don't come very close in the summer, because there's no reason for them to do so. They have plenty of food in the coulee.

That singing meadowlark is such a pretty sight.
ReplyDeleteThe meadowlark seems to be singing quite a hearty song. And it’s nice to see deer content and well fed in the wild without needing to search for food near where humans live.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous, colorlful bird and I do love the deer! Wonderful captures, Kay! Hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely country to walk through.......within walking distance of your house?

ReplyDeleteOur world at least my part of it, is also very wet and the poor flowers have too much water ! Unfortunately it makes the grass grow (for the olympics) and it's to wet to mow the lawn, sigh !
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute shot of the Meadowlark!
ReplyDeleteWhat great shots! I met a deer this morning, a fawn the other day. AND WE HAD RAIN TODAY!
