His mother had named him Jack, and he never forgave her. His friends teased him, “Jack, be nimble! Jack, be quick!” but he was neither one.

Every week Grandma posts a picture and, along with it, the word of the week, chosen by her daughter Calico who has not yet seen the picture.
This week's word is nimble!
As participants, we are invited to write a short story about the picture, using 140 words or less, or a very, very short story using 140 characters or less, including punctuation and spaces. I have used 139 characters. There are no points awarded, not even extra points for using the word of the week. But it is a fun challenge to let us showcase our writing skills, and perhaps pick up hints along the way.

ReplyDeleteHm. I'm wondering if his last name is Frost. If it is, and he went by the nickname, "Frosty," maybe his pals would cut the "Jack, be this, Jack, be that" crap. LOL!
Good week be yours,

ReplyDeletePoor Jack, but a fun microfiction!
ReplyDeleteWell, from me you get BIG points. I think you're both fast and nimble with your words, dear Kay. :-)
ReplyDeleteJack be wishing you a Merry Christmas, Kay!
ReplyDeleteBeing slow is a real disadvantage when you're a snowman jumping over a candlestick!
ReplyDeleteAw poor Jack. :(
ReplyDeleteVery nice, Kay.
ReplyDeleteNow if his mom would have reminded him that he was named after Jack Sprat (of the could eat no fat variety) he would have led a different life!
..
I can just picture this. Poor Jack! Perhaps he should consider a name change I think that many kids go through a phase of wishing they had a different name.
ReplyDeleteI know a girl who started calling herself Alex at the age of four. She wouldn't answer to the name her parents gave her. Eventually they started calling her Alex as well. At twenty-one, .she changed her name legally.
That's a clever one. Poor Jack.
