The shadow actually shows the amazing detail and symmetry of this statue. One can make out the nose, lips, and the fingers of the woman in the shadow. Amazing handiwork!
A beautiful statue. I loved St. Petersburg but wasn't there nearly long enough - about 16 hours while cruising. It is a magnificent city and we ended our day seeing a folkloric show.

And before I started this comment, but after I had clicked the comment link, I spied your Amber Room post. That was a bit of creative hair-splitting, and the results are amazing!
The piglet offers a caring look to the lady who has perhaps saved the little guy from an unsavory fate. Maybe that is a fable, but this shadow is excellent!
