| Fishing is a sport beloved around the world, including the River Svir in Russia. |
Some of these little kids don't seem happy, but it looks like a fun ride to me. Many river cruise ships, including those from Viking River Cruises, stop at Mandrogy to let passengers get a taste of life in Russia hundreds of years ago. (The wheels, I would guess, aren't exactly authentic 15th Century.)

Ah … I see what you mean about the wheels, Kay! I guess the ride would be a little too bumpy otherwise for the modern day kids that do seem quite serious. Maybe they are wishing they were playing with the bows and arrows. Really like your new profile photo, by the way, with the gorgeous smile!
ReplyDeleteyour Russian trip must have been a fascinating experience.
ReplyDeleteYes, about the wheels -- but its great to know that this re-created place is there -- it must be a wonderful way to learn history -- for kids and grownups alike.
ReplyDeleteand was that perhaps Dick's arrow that missed the mark completely?! or yours?!
ReplyDeleteHa! I'm glad you pointed out the wheels. I think I would have missed that. :)
ReplyDeleteI have so enjoyed the Russian tours you've taken us on! I love the horse! What a beauty he is! Those wheels are interesting!! Glad you pointed them out! Enjoy a great week, Kay!

What a fascinating place to visit. I like the old world stops. The kids don't look happy but I agree that it looks like fun to me.
ReplyDeleteThe archery range looks like fun, I wouldn't mind dusting off my bow to have a go at those targets.
ReplyDeleteI think the ride looks like fun but those kids would probably rather play video games or watch tv.
Interesting place. As you said the wheels are out of place.
ReplyDeleteWonderful shots. Thanks for showing these.

Another great tour Kay!
ReplyDeleteMost interesting! Loved going through this series.
ReplyDeleteYou are so funny "Ka", and yes, I see that the wheels are not authentic! LOL!
ReplyDeleteYour trip to Russia was a great adventure - and so full of beauty!
ReplyDeletea very pretty world!
ReplyDeleteIt's really amazing what you have seen. I never imagined a kind of totem in Russia !
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about your fingers having developed a will of their own. I thank the Lord fasting for spell-check as mine are similarly inclined.
ReplyDeleteI am in love with your Russian posts. Some of them take me back to my mother's childhood, others to my travels in Russia. I love them all. Nostalgia is an odd affliction, the older you get the more dear are the things from ones distant past.
Archery is an appealing hobby, if I could draw the bow, I do have a strong right arm but maybe not that strong.
ReplyDeleteI think the old wooden wheels would have made the wagon ride a bit torturous, the little boy does seem to be wearing a 'pet lip' doesn't he.
Interesting selection of photo's once again.
Another great tour Kay. Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
ReplyDeleteYe Old Spectators are great! But I can't think of much nastier than traveling with scowling kids... :-D
