Yellow is a popular color for buildings in Russia, and I'll be posting about one of the most famous yellow buildings later this week, but for now here are some shots around and about in St. Petersburg, all containing yellow of some sort. We took these while on shore tours in St. Petersburg during our August holiday with
Viking River Cruises.

| I love the way the light came out of the dark sky and highlighted the yellow buildings. |

Posted for Mellow Yellow Monday
hosted every week by Drowsey Monkey. Thanks, Drowsey!
To see what other mellow yellows were caught on camera this week,
Hi Kay - lovely pics in and around St Petersburg - I had imagined it would have been very sombre but it's quite the opposite.
ReplyDeleteHappy week!
I love the fountain.
ReplyDeleteYellow is happiness
What a beautiful place to travel! I love your yellow shots. My sister owns a Subway and we sure do love those stores : ) Great captures of yellow.
ReplyDeleteThat third photo is a prime reason grey should never be used for buildings!
ReplyDeleteSt Petersburg is somewhere that I have always wanted to visit, it looks so beautiful. At our bbq yesterday was a very good friend of ours, strangely enough from St. Petersburg x
ReplyDeleteBeautiful scenes Kay, you found some great yellows on your tour. I like the one by the lake too, it is lovely the way the light lit up the yellow houses.
ReplyDeleteWas there a MacDonald's next to the Subway?
Always enjoy your "Mellow Yellow" posts; kinda my favorite color depending on the subject. That building in the distance looks beautiful in the gentle, yellow spotlight. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteDon't you wish you can buy all the Russian dolls in the fair?
ReplyDeleteI love that Subway sign! I think if you had only included the cyrillic one, I would still have gotten that it was a Subway! Even if I don't read the language...
ReplyDeleteI love the shot with the light finding the yellow buildings. Interesting post. Subway in Russia!
ReplyDeleteOh Kay, I love the souvenir shop !!!!! So vibrant !!
ReplyDeleteLove gift shops!
ReplyDeleteEyeball Plant
For tourists they learned even English ! Before fall of the wall English was not allowed to learn in schools only French.
ReplyDeleteThe weather looks rather cloudy.
A terrific series of shots Kay!
ReplyDeleteTe whole world looks alike, doesn't matter much where you roam. Only the letters are different.
ReplyDeleteI think it's very sad. Wy can't cities be exciting and mysterious any more?
Lovely yellows! Sad to see the conglomerates taking over the spirit of cities worldwide.
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize yellow is such a common colour for buildings in Russia. I guess yellow brightens the winter landscape!
ReplyDeletelove the snaps....specially all those dolls in the souvenir shop.
ReplyDeleteI love how you have grouped them by themes for your memes! Well done.
ReplyDeleteI would love a sub sandwich. Lovely photos Kay.
ReplyDeleteGreat series!
ReplyDeleteNice teaser for those of us dreaming of going to Russia someday!

Dibs of yellow and dabs of red—
Rainbow colors go to my head!
Dashes of gold and crimson too—
Painted like this I can’t feel blue!
